Why should we answer the phone elegantly and professionally?
How you answer the phone is important for a variety of reasons but first and foremost because it is your first impression of yourself and the company you represent. When we answer the phone politely and professionally it makes a huge impact on the tone and direction of your conversation.
How should you answer the phone?
In a professional setting, you should always answer the phone by saying
- Hello
- Your company’s name
- Your name
“Hello, You have reached The Elegance Advisor Consultancy, Taylor Elizabeth speaking.”
Why is this so important?
- It removes any confusion. The person calling immediately knows who they have called and who is speaking. It is reassuring and transparent so the caller knows they have contacted the right company and that they have the correct person and if they don’t then you can help direct them to the correct person to contact.
- Saying your name creates a personal connection with you as they now know exactly who it is that is speaking to them. It is no longer just a voice, but a human being.
- It is efficient. Make the best use of your time by letting the person on the other end of the call know who is speaking. Prevents awkward silence or confusing questions as they try to decipher who you are, what role you have in the company, or if you are the correct person to speak to.
- It is professional and official. It shows that you are ready to work and take their call so your conversation will start with the right tone.

I relly like this post, its usefull and helped me to know how to properly communicate not just in work calls but also in personal calls, it saves time and also questions from the person im calling as it provides the needed informations right at the begginig and makes transfering to the point of the call much smoother and easier!
