Are you curious about what things you can do to level up in the office?
Give credit where credit is due
Supporting your team and recognizing that someone did something worthwhile, does not affect how others see your performance, and acknowledging a job well done, will up morale and everyone will do better.
Avoid overpromising and always keep your deadlines
Never miss a deadline with clear communication on how long it will take you, taking into consideration your workload.
Send thank-you notes to clients and coworkers
It seems old school, but what better way to show appreciation than a handwritten letter. It has been proven that clients truly appreciate this and it helps for repeat business.
Pay attention in meetings and show up prepared
Being engaged and prepared for meetings is very important in a team environment. If everyone is paying attention and prepared, meetings are more productive and less time-consuming.
Calling someone out for a mistake publicly
Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves respect. Treat mistakes as learning opportunities and always address them with as much tact as possible. In private when possible.
Participating in office gossip
Excuse yourself from office gossip or address it when possible. Please see my video in the stories on how to do this.
Showing up late and unprepared for meetings
Out of respect, show up on time (early if possible) and always be prepared!
Losing your temper because you are overwhelmed
Take a deep breath and work through your emotions privately rather than take them out on someone else.
What do you do to stay elegant in the office? I would love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to share this with someone who may find it helpful.
