Each week I create a theme that helps the elegance community to set the right tone for the week.
I believe that using these simple insights will help you to set the tone and get in the right mindset for the week to lead a more elegant and mindful life.
This week’s tone is developing tact! <<<watch video>>>
Tact is helpful for many situations such as giving feedback, discussing sensitive issues and navigating interpersonal relationships, and so much more.
Tact can be thought of as a tool, to ensure you are communicating most effectively. It assists in demonstrating a level of professionalism, maturity, and integrity, and strengthens our credibility, character, and interpersonal relationships.
So how can you have more tact?
1. Work from the inside out
Work towards developing your emotional intelligence so that you have an understanding of yourself and others in specific situations.
2. Develop active listening skills
Develop these skills so you can understand the heart of the conversation and respond more effectively and with tact.
3. Work towards cultural sensitivity
Cultural sensitivity will go a long way in developing your tact. It will help you gauge where behavior comes from and how to respond appropriately.
4. Understand there is a time and place
Asking for a raise, 💰bringing up difficult emotional topics, 😢and correcting bad behavior. There is a right time and a place in which to communicate these topics so that they will be better received.
5. Words can be weapons or medicine
Choosing your words carefully will contribute positively when relaying your message.
